PrayDay for schools

This is the annual European day of prayer for schools. It's an opportunity to pray rather than a centrally-organised event: for pupils, staff, parents, schools workers, church leaders and anyone else with a concern for their local schools to find ways of bringing them before God. Have a look at the website to find out more and download an information handbook with loads of ideas of things you could do to encourage others of all ages to pray.

Since creating this event I've discovered that this year's PrayDay falls within Inter-Faith Week, which is a new event for 2009 (details at www.interfaithweek.org). If your local school is going to be focusing on inter-faith activities that week, it might be worthwhile thinking in advance about how PrayDay could fit into that and how you would want people of other faiths to view what you are doing. If you're considering running an event for teenagers of different faiths, there are some small grants available; see www.ifyouthtrust.co.uk for details (closing date 2 October).
