Comment by Ruth Kenward on February 6, 2013 at 21:22 p.s. the website is primarily aimed at the secular world, i.e. it isn't designed to point out Biblical threads to Christians!!!
Comment by Ruth Kenward on February 6, 2013 at 21:19 Hi Melinda, I don't know if it is of any interest to you as it's performing arts focus, but I write/publish musicals for children to perform (pre-teens), with a focus on dramatising stories that aren't necessarily Biblical but contain 'seeds of truth' that can prepare un-churched children to receive/understand the Gospel. Stories like our 'Pied Piper' and 'Tattybogle' have very strong parallels with aspects of the Gospel, so good for helping kids get their heads around things, e.g. as a reference point in conversation... plus the shows usually model kingdom values/principles very clearly. Check out www.starshine.co.uk - if it's of interest, feel free to message me :-)

Don't know what age you are looking at but for younger (under 6) the various things by Justin such as Something Special, Justin's House are popular. There good for looking at what sort of things children find funny but also how they relate to differences between people.
Comment by Brenda Lord on January 31, 2012 at 10:19 Hi Melinda
Although kids like the Narnia films, I wouldn't say that they are 'into' Narnia' in a big way. Which age group do you want to focus on and which culture? I notice that you are in Ohio. Most issues that concern children in the UK relate to school, family, friends, acceptance, value, finding something that you are good at etc. Tracy Beaker is a popular TV programme about a girl in a children's home. Talk to some of your kids. Hope that helps a bit
Comment by Melinda Autry on January 30, 2012 at 20:19 I am taking a course in Theology and Culture. I want to write my research paper on some issue that pertains to children. Any ideas? I have thought about addressing the Narnia series in some way.
