HI in response to your email about what training we do ...

Dave Gidney ... childrens worker training naturally

specialities ... Old Testament particularly ...and then apprenticeship based training of children's workers.
That means I will train on any area, but particular specialities are biblical issues around childrens work, and looking at families work, and tweenagers in particular.

Pretty much most areas of children's ministry including such things as: creating and sharing vision, aims and objectives for ministry; review and evaluation; developing child friendly church and including children in serving; child spirituality & faith development and exploring issues of communion, baptism and spiritual gifts (for both leaders and parents); using the bible with children; leading/facilitating small groups (including cell group models) and developing own resources/materials; developing work and pastoral care for under 5s and their parents; planning and preparing for children's residentials; developing ministry teams; planning and leading intergenerational services and events; care and protection of children and vulnerable adults.

I regularly do training in Child Protection, spiritual/faith development of children, leading Sunday Schools, telling stories, using games with children.

Anybody training for parenting courses out there?

I have just read through the Good Book company one "putting parenting to bed" I wonder if anyone has done it, read it ... how has it gone?

yes i do a lot of 'training' on parenting - two courses called 'handling children's behaviour' and handling teenage behaviour' - they are 'courses' initially, but mostly they morph into ongoing support group networks for parents around the issues of emotional literacy, self management and stress management, additional support needs and extreme behaviour/SEBD - those parents go on to run their own courses and set up other networks locally

I do training for London City Mission and for Churches through the Capital Kids programme. I take responsibility for developing good practice and teaching across LCM's work. I have also begun to work with Churches in helping them develop their vision for Children's work within the Church's wider vision.

Share the Gospel
Teach the Bible
Tell Bible stories
Teach memory verses
Run Bible quizzes
to involve Prayer with Children

I also cover Child protection, learning styles and Factors, team Building and planning events. I am looking into the whole area of communicating with children with special needs as my daughter Eleanor is Autistic and gets frustrated at my attempts to serve as a special needs assistant at my church.

I will take on anything else that people throw at me if I feel I can do the subject justice and if not I pass it on to someone else like you guys reading this comment.
