My first reaction was one of huge sadness and pain. So many parents of children with disabilities struggle to come through what seems to be a prolonged cycle of bereavement as they did not get the child they had hoped for.
I also struggled as it seemed that big questions about mother's feelings and future options were being discussed in front of very vulnerable young people who were able to be hurt by hearing the possibility of even more insecurity.
I was longing to help alongside the lad that seemed to have developed a form of Tourettes.
There is so much the church could do to offer support and inclusion, we must keep chipping away at this and network where we see good practice .
