My first reaction was one of huge sadness and pain. So many parents of children with disabilities struggle to come through what seems to be a prolonged cycle of bereavement as they did not get the child they had hoped for. I also struggled as it s...

Dear Alice

Thank you so much for getting in touch. It is good to hear that SU continues to develope the work amongst those who have special needs. Where are you based - are you still in Bath?
It would be lovely to make contact and to see how we could work together in any way.
A good time to contact me is on a Friday when I work in the New WIne office - the rest of the week I am employed as an OT for a charity in N London.

Hope to speak or email soon,
Heather

Hello Heather Thank you for responding. I'm based working from home which is Malmesbury - half way between Swindon and Bath . I'm more than happy to come along to the New Wine office on a friday and explore how we might work together. 6th or 13th Feb or 13th March would work for me .
I am a New Wine enthusiast - holidays ( I work as village host ) and women's days - so I feel sure we will agree on the importance of helping extra special children connect more with closely with God.
best wishes
Alice

Alice if you were able to come up to London that would be great. I am at the NW office in Finchley - based at St Barnabas Church - is that OK?
13th Feb would be good for me. What time would suit you?

Thanks for inviting me. I'm sure that this will prove to be a very useful forum. I'm in the middle of reading up on the notes you sent me on Special Needs - Cheers!

Hi Alice, yes all is going well for our two boys in Suinday School but we still have a lot to learn. Have already picked up a few tips form this site so thanks for bringing it to my attention,
Regards,
Audrey

Hi Alice,
I am busy getting myself organised for starting back at Sunday School next Sunday and was wondering if you can suggest any teaching material or reading on the subject of including children with special needs in our class of 30ish 7 to 11 year olds. One of our boys with Downs Syndrome and Autism is coming into this class (his peer group) for the first time with a one to one helper. I am doing a lesson on inclusion this Sunday specifically aimed at helping the other children to understand their 'role' in this new venture. Previously this little boy has stayed with the younger classes due to the older class being noisey and 'in yer face' but he is too big physically to merge with the little ones now and also I don't want to cut him off from his own age group. Any suggestions you have regarding the lesson on Sunday or tips in general would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Audrey
