Dave, Thanks for setting up this site and for giving us the opportunity to network with other chldrens workers. As a newie I hope to learn lots!
Have you been involved with auditing childrens work? If so, is it just a case of designing your own tool or are there guidelines out there? I have offered to help audit the childen work at our church's away day on 25h Nov.and am wanting to involve the children understandably! but do I use symbols like happy and sad faces for the younger children to communicate their opinons and simple yes/no answers for the older child. Any advice greatly received!I have asked Andi but am not sure how to ask everyone without just leaving comments on their comment wall. I am not a computer whiz!!

Dear Dave,

Praise God that I have found your website. I am blessed to read materials for children's ministry as well as to learn from others about their experiences. I am also happy to share our experiences.
May God richly bless you and your family.

Blessings,

Febie

Children on atheist billboards 'are actually Evangelical Christians'

The boy and girl can currently be seen next to the slogan "Don't Label Me" on adverts funded by the British Humanist Association (BHA) and endorsed by Prof Richard Dawkins, the scientist and prominent atheist.

The posters form part of a campaign urging parents not to define their children by their own faith, which some secularists claim amounts to an abuse of their human rights.

But the campaign appears to have backfired after a Christian community leader said that the models pictured in the p… Continue

Nativity plays not dead yet?

Those prophesying the end of school nativity plays for political reasons aren't taking into account Debbie Isitt's new five-star rated Christmas family movie, suggests one educational charity.

Set in Coventry, Nativity! centres round two primary schools - one Catholic state, one private - vying to stage the best play in town. The film gently explores themes of redemption, reconciliation and the deeper meaning of the season.

Starring Martin Freeman as a frustrated, under-achieving primary schoo… Continue

Teach both evolution and creationism say 54% of Britons

More than half of British adults think that intelligent design and creationism should be taught alongside evolution in school science lessons – a proportion higher than in the US. An Ipsos Mori survey questioned 11,768 adults from 10 countries on how the theory of evolution should be taught in school science lessons.

About 54% of the 973 polled Britons agreed with the view: "Evolutionary theories should be taught in science lessons in schools together with other possible perspectives, such as i… Continue

Rowan Williams condemns 'oppressive' English educational system

Rowan Williams, the archbishop of Canterbury, has set out a devastating critique of the "oppressive" English education system accusing successive governments of prioritising test marks over children's spiritual or emotional happiness.

The school system is now so results-driven that children are in danger of being written off as failures at an early age, he warned in a speech at Lambeth Palace marking a major expansion of the church's academy programme. He claimed teachers had been undermined an… Continue
