Sermon writing for dummies

I am currently halfway through writing a sermon for later in the month. Actually, most of that sentence is a lie; I am not halfway at all, I have just read through the Lectionary readings for the service and am perplexed as to what they have in common. It's like one of those puzzles in women's magazines- you know the ones I mean, where they ask 'What have Tinkerbell, Bruce Forsyth, an ice cube and Robert De Niro have in common?' (The answer to which I don't know, I have never managed to find

A Sticky situation...

Yesterday I got myself into a bit of a sticky situation. On Friday I am making bear finger puppets with the children at After School Club and so yesterday was my planning time for the session. I had decided that I was going to pre-glue all of the fiddly small bits of felt and eyes with Super Glue so that the craft didn't take too long at the club. Ups and downs

I am not sure that I have ever had such a mixed up couple of weeks before now.

Now, I had been in post for 6 days by then, and to be honest, I wasn'

Octopus biscuits

Last weekend in Reading I bought a few really good books that I would recommend to any one starting out in children's work or teaching of any sort- the Great Big Book of Children's games, The Usborne book of Art Projects, and also the Usborne Book of things to make and do in the Holidays. The last of those is where I found the octopus biscuit recipe last week, and I excitedly decided that I would make a batch for the children at the Harvest Service on Sunday. So, I

An interesting week.. and a tough weekend ahead!

It has been a hectic week.

It has been great, but hectic; people to see, planning to do, child protection course to attend...

Now, theres a thing, child protection courses. I did a half day course yesterday and am now petrified to do my job... no, actually, it just makes me want to do my job properly, paying attention to safeguarding. It is so important, I am going to arrange training for my whole team.

This weekend is going to be tough- I am co-leading the hearvest all a
