The report, A Stitch in Time, investigates barriers to commissioning early intervention services to tackle educational disengagement. It suggests organisations working with children and young people should be inspected by "an Ofsted-style body" that could issue a "national Kitemark of quality". "The establishment of children's trusts in 2004 was supposed to increase the amount of joint commissioning across different agencies towards a common objective - but they do not seem to have worked," says…

Baptists have passed a resolution condemning the use of an alarm that emits a high-pitched sound to disperse groups of potential troublemakers. The sound emitted by the Mosquito alarm is extremely irritating to young people but inaudible to anyone older than 24. The alarm is used widely by shopkeepers and retailers to stop youths from loitering outside their shops but critics have called for a ban in recent years on the grounds that the alarm targets young people indiscriminately. Sarah Fleming,…

He said that school children should also be taught that becoming a parent is a serious commitment rather than just…
