Rebecca Andrews, author of Policing Innocence has once again been asked by the BBC to assist and advise their audience on the sensitive subject of child protection, particularly the topical tragedy of female abusers.

On Sunday morning she held 12 interviews with BBC radio stations nationwide, covering the breadth of the country from Newcastle to Newquay. This is the second occasion Rebecca has been asked to conduct such extensive interviews and she is often asked to speak on the Jeremy Vine Show on BBC Radio 2.

Her insight, which is drawn from having dealt with many female abusers as a police officer in the Child Protection Unit and Paedophile Unit, is as valuable as it is rare. As always, she spoke with a calm common sense, offering the steady and uncompromising advice that has made her book so vital and accessible among child carers from all walks of life. She stressed the importance of child protection measures being "gender-free", and reminded viewers that while female abusers are unusual, they are fundamentally no different to male abusers in their reliance on supreme deception and strict control.

As a parent, I will always be grateful that I have read Policing Innocence, allowing its straightforward and easy-read advice to expose the deceptive methods of offenders and educate me about how to calmly and sensibly keep my own children safe.
