Hi,
Thanks for such a quick reply. He has been referred for counselling so hopefully that will help.
Specific behaviour issues are around sharing and lack of concentration and being disruptive, especially in a group situation. At the moment we are using the usual strategies we use, such as a timer for things like the computer, and giving him 2 alternatives eg. you can choose to sit and listen to the story or we can go in the kitchen(which is obviously a boring alternative). He is responding really well to the timer and now sometimes gets up to let another child have a turn without being reminded and the we sometimes have to remove him to the kitchen, but this calms him down very quickly and he returns more calmly. In the new year we are going to talk more to gran and maybe start a sticker chart as well, we obviously try and praise him and be positive as much as possible.
Will look into the books, thanks for advice.
Gill
Hi,
Saw on your profile you have done bereavement training.
We have a little boy in pre-school whose mum and dad are both dead - mum died last year. He is 3yrs old and living with Gran. Do you have any advice that might be helpful.
We are having behavioural issues with him, which we are trying to work on with gran, but we are not sure if this is an issue anyway or connected to his loss.
